It’s good to know that there’s someone out there who thinks the same. Truth be told, I shudder a little inside every time I pass a house with a flag prominently displayed outside. Patriotism is easy. Compassion for your fellow man? Not so much.
That is pretty much what Edith Cavell said just before she was executed by the Germans during the First World War. It’s not that I am not a team player but my team is the human race – everything else is just wearisome.
I absolutely agree with you on that.
