Can you see the ladies in their sweeping gowns and the plumed hats of the men? Kirby Hall really has resonance with me, far more so than the stately homes which are packed with furniture etc. Stripped bare it seems to hold more life. Perhaps I am being flakey but this represents life to me in a way. Sorry to go on Chris from Chris!
I can’t say that I’ve ever been. However not too far from us is Witley Court, which was destroyed by fire – like yourself this gives the place a certain ‘feel’.
