A statue to honour those who died in the steel industry in Corby, Northamptonshire, England, over the years. Corby has suffered financial hardship because of the loss of most of the industry and, whilst regeneration is occurring, it is mainly the leisure industry which is creating jobs now. I feel this statue also honours the dying industry itself.
Just off the city centre and opposite the hotel this site is now being cleared after years of neglect. The white unit left of centre says ‘DECONTAMINATION UNIT’ so assuming they are coming across asbestos.
