THE TEARS OF EDDIE VEDDER

Although not a particular fan of Pearl Jam I have great respect for Eddie Vedder who seems to me to be a caring and honest man. His involvement with the case of the West Memphis Three, a vile and wicked miscarriage of justice, together with others who used their fame to fund and highlight the issues therein demonstrates how you can put fame to good use, unlike a gobby Irish man I can think of.

WORDSMITHS X 4

FIRST BRADFORD LITERATURE FESTIVAL – Mark saw this was on and, although we only had couple of days, we went to Bradford and spent an hour or so in the company of four fine poets – left to right: John Siddique, Lemn Sissay, Jo Bell and Brian Patten. It was wonderful! Next year more days will be spent there.

SISTERS

Walking through Bradford we spied these two young girls playing in an urban wasteland, busily collecting things laying around and taking them up to the parapets. Alessandra is the foreground and Michaela sits, waiting, at the top of the steps. Children finding things to play with in the most arid places – their imagination is boundless.
